TOKYO, April 28, 2026 – Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today that it will move forward discussions with industry partners including RTX’s Raytheon, regarding the scope of Japan’s participation in the AIM-120 AMRAAM®1 identified during the fourth session of the Japan–U.S. Defense Industrial Cooperation, Acquisition, and Sustainment Regular Consultations (DICAS 2.0). As outlined in the DICAS summary, this includes work related to circuit card assembly (CCA), with the possibility of a future final assembly and check out (FACO) in Japan.
Bilateral coordination is underway to explore the co-production of AMRAAM, currently manufactured in the U.S., which would strengthen the Japan–U.S. defense industrial base. Based on contracts with the Japan Ministry of Defense in 2024 and 2025, Mitsubishi Electric has been studying the feasibility of contributing to AMRAAM production.
Mitsubishi Electric will continue to work with industry partners on next steps, drawing on its experience developing and manufacturing air-to-air missiles for the Japan Ministry of Defense to support shared deterrence and security objectives.
Going forward, Mitsubishi Electric will continue to apply its technology to strengthen deterrence and security.
“AMRAAM” is a registered trademark of Raytheon, an RTX Business.
